So you have stuff to sell, but aren’t sure how to get the best price for your item? Look no further, here are the top five tips for selling your bike, car, purse or anything else on Here.us!
- Do your research!
Search the internet for your item and see what it sells for new and used. Make sure you do a local search, since prices in different cities like Chicago may be different than the prices in Milwaukee.
- Write a good description
Include a general description of the item. Do you have all the parts? Say so. Everything in good working order? Customers need to know. Any defects or broken parts? It’s best to be honest. People are more likely to buy a car that has a few scratches or dents if they know about it upfront.
A good description will also limit the amount of questions you will have to answer through email.
- Include pictures
We live in an age of digital cameras and camera phones, so there are no excuses for not having pictures of your item. Take lots of pictures and pick the best ones that show the item from many different angles. Discover how many angles you can take a picture of women’s apparel from!
- Make a new email account for selling your items.
This will allow you to quickly respond to inquiries from potential buyers, but you don’t have to worry about giving out your personal or professional email address. Do you really want questions about that bike you were selling (that’s already sold) showing up in your work email for months? Once the item is sold you should delete it, if you don’t or just forget the here.us system will delete it soon enough.
- Pad your price (but only a bit)
Price your item on the higher end of what they sell for – you did your research, right? People love to haggle on classified sites, so this way you have a bit of wiggle room.
